Domenica Bona is a Rome-based researcher, curator and photographer with a background in architecture. Her work focuses on the history and morphology of Chinese cities, architectural publishing and visual storytelling. She is now resuming her research, writing and photography, the latter under the pseudonym Mi Chenxing.
Academia · She has taught since 2013 and was a lecturer at the Technische Universität Berlin (2019–2022), where she taught the history of Chinese architecture and urban planning. She studied at Shenzhen University, graduated in Architecture from the Politecnico di Milano, and earned a PhD at Roma Tre University in 2018. Her thesis on “Chineseness” in contemporary Chinese cities, based on a typo-morphological approach, received the INU Prize 2018 and the AISU Prize 2020.
Curation and publishing · As Senior Curator at DIVISARE.com and Editor-in-Chief of DIVISARE BOOKS (2015–2018), she curated more than 150 publications on architects including Louis Kahn, de vylder vinck taillieu, Carla Juaçaba, Lacroix Chessex, RCR Arquitectes and Vector Architects.
Photography · As Mi Chenxing, she explores how built space is lived and perceived.
Advocacy· She is a co-founder of RebelArchitette, an association for gender equity in the architectural profession.
